Flexible — Villages & experiences

A menu, not a schedule.

Chilham (16 min)Kent's most photogenic village — medieval square ringed by timber-framed houses, cobbled lanes, independent tea rooms, views across the Stour Valley. Combine with Chartham Vineyard for a morning out.

Fordwich (14 min)Britain's smallest town. The River Stour, a medieval Town Hall, the Fordwich Arms (Michelin 1★) if we want to peer in. Pair with the Fordwich to Reed Pond walk.

Faversham (20 min)Proper market town, 400+ listed buildings. Preston Street has 60+ independent shops. Shepherd Neame brewery (Britain's oldest, 1698) in the centre. Genuine independent retail, not tourist-twee.

Whitstable (25 min)Pair with The Sportsman lunch on Friday — arrive early and explore the harbour, Tankerton slopes, the independent high street.

Chartham Vineyard, Barnsole Vineyard, Gilda BakeryThree local stops within twenty minutes. Free walk-in tastings at Chartham; Barnsole has free admission + free mini-tour + free tasting; Gilda is the morning sourdough-and-pastries fix before a walk.

Flexible — Dinners

Walkable from The PIG, or a taxi for one special night.

The Bridge Arms (9 min walk)Modern British, charcoal grill, 28-day-aged sirloin. Open Wed–Sat for dinner only. Best for Wed (post Hide and Fox), Thu, Fri.

The Fordwich Arms (14 min drive — taxi both ways)Michelin 1★, Andy Hayler called the tasting menu "hardly a false note throughout". ~£195 for two with wine. Worth one evening.

The PIG restaurantAlways a fallback for Mon/Tue (when Bridge Arms is closed) and any evening we'd rather stay in. Set menu fair value — booking via reception.
